General Information
The Ashtabula Lions Club Harris-Dean Memorial Scholarship is made possible by the dedication and hard work of the members of the Ashtabula Lions Club and is designed to reward and encourage area young people to pursue higher education. Selection is based upon a balanced consideration of leadership, character and achievement inside and outside the classroom and a financial need. One scholarship for $1,000 will be awarded to be used for tuition and/or room and board.
Eligibility
Applicants must have senior standing at Lakeside, Edgewood, St. John, Ashtabula County Technical & Career Center, Geneva or Jefferson High Schools and must be planning to attend an accredited American college or university on a full time basis.
Selection Process
Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 1 of the application year and should be mailed to (Ashtabula Lions Club Scholarship | P.O. Box 534 | Ashtabula, OH 44005-0534).
Members of the Lions Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipient. The recipient will be notified so that the scholarship may be presented at a Lions Scholarship ceremony in May.
Payment of the scholarship will be made directly to the college or university after submission of the first quarter’s transcript is submitted with appropriate address and department of the college.
Applicants Please Note
Please complete all parts of the application as completely as possible. You are encouraged to include additional pages if you require them to fully answer our questions, but other documents (resumes, letters of recommendation, miscellaneous narratives) are not necessary and will not be passed along to the selection committee.
The entire application must be postmarked by April 1st. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
